Stefan Kracht – consultant in the airline industry and aviation expert with over 30.000 hours as pilot and trainer
Transformation is the solution for sustainable Air Traffic Management
With a total of more than 30.000 flight hours as pilot, captain, trainer and type rating instructor for international airlines (LTU, Air Berlin, SunExpress, EasyJet) I use my extensive experience in aviation to advise projects in the field of innovation in Air Traffic Management and Ground Operations. As consultant and aviation expert my focus in these projects is on sustainable solutions, innovative and AI-based technologies, autonomous maneuvering of aircraft and fully automated processes at airports.
Since 2020, I have been working intensively on the implementation of a concept for autonomous movement of aircraft on the apron, which served as a template for the AEM Speedport project. The vision of bringing together sustainable, innovative and AI-based approaches from various stakeholders to create an autonomous eco-system has been driving me for years. The exchange with many visionaries in the industry and smart synergies with companies, universities, institutions such as DLR and various aviation experts have led to the AEM Speedport project receiving €11.9 million in federal funding in 2024.

The Project „AeM Speedport" enables sustainable mobility
through autonomous maneuvering of aircraft
AeM Speedport will provide autonomous and efficient movement of aircraft after landing and before take off. Intelligent and sustainable solutions with focus on digitalization - combined in one smart eco-system around the gate. Together with top-class partners from the aviation industry, renowned institutes and universities that have been conducting research in the field of aviation for many years, we are developing a highly efficient air traffic management and want to create new environmental standards for airports and sustainable solutions for the airline industry. The main goal of the project is significant optimization in the area of ground operations. I am firmly convinced: Significant and measurable savings potential in aviation today is definitely more likely to be found on the ground than in the air.

The project AEM Speedport
Project focus is autonomous movement of aircraft on the apron. In the near future, aircraft will move autonomously and without their own engine power from the gate to the runway and back after landing.
